Sorry I don't have anything to add to this discussion but I was preparing to install ansys on my laptop which has windows VISTA with 3GB ram, c2d processor. What's going to be the performance?

The only other thing I might add is, DO NOT get Windows VISTA. The O/S alone uses about 1.3 Gb of RAM, and it will severely limit your model size.
