Subject: Element Energy Error (SERR)
Author: Singh, Hardev

Hello,
Has anyone tried to duplicate/verify the element energy error (accessed via ETABLE,,SERR command) provided by ANSYS? I am using the formula provide in "POST1 - Error Estimation Technique" section of theory manual; ei=(1/2)*(DelSigma)^T*[D}^-1(DelSigma)*(VOLU) for a plane strain application. ANSYS essentially subtracts element values of stress from the averaged (nodal) values, which is (DelSigma).

I am working on a project trying to correlate discretization error to errors in stress intensity factor calculations for 2D cracked plates, using the J-integral contour method.

Any help would be appreciated.
