Greetings, I will attempt to offer some additional perspectives. I have
attempted to run 2-way FSI coupling through blood flow through an
aneurysms using CFX and ANSYS classic (v. 10). Unfortunately, I also
encountered lots of problems/difficulties that prevented me from getting
viable solutions at that time.
Veins are consistently 100% occluded due to their dependence on external
pressures/forces driving the flow through vessel.
An alternative approach may be to start with a tube with no flow and then
apply nodal displacements (not pressures) on the solid portion of the tube
near its inlet and allow these loads/boundary displacements to drive the
fluid flow. You could set the outlet pressure very low (near zero which is
biologically accurate) to force the majority of the fluid to flow towards
the outlet. It may be too late to do this, but it could be worth a shot.
