Actually, *GET, max_stress, PLNSOL, 0, max will get the max value of
any contour plot, could be element solution PLESOL, probably even
element table PLET.
This gives you a lot of options.

Keith,

That command works better. I concur with your suggestion; careful node
and element selection is a better substitution.

Issue plnsol,s,eqv followed by:

*GET, max_stress, PLNSOL, 0, max

This gets the max value from the last plnsol command.

Drawback is you may have singular stresses that could result in not
getting what you are looking for.
Careful selection of nodes and elements should take care of this.

Good luck,

Subject: [Xansys] Retrieving maximum equiv. stress for a given loadstep
andsubstep in modal analysis

All,

Is there a better command to retrieve maximum equivalent stress in a
mixed element model, for a load step and a sub-step in modal analysis?

I am using nsort followed by *get, par, sort, max...

The drawback here is that I've to select a set of elements, shells or
solids, before execution. I've to guess where maximum stress will be for
the sub-step.

Thanks for your help.
