Subject: APDL Calling UPF from input file

Hello All,

I am attempting to simulate active muscle response. The complete model
consists of a flexible pipe (blood vessel) with a layer of elements
surrounding it (making up the circumferential surface) that will represent
smooth muscles. The smooth muscles will be covered with elements that will
represent soft tissue. CFX will be used to simulate blood flow through the
blood vessel and this will be solved as a FSI model.

These smooth muscles will contract and relax based on a series of
differential equations. I have modified the uservp.f program to solve the
differential equations and apply a strain to the elements that make up the
smooth muscles.

My question concerns the input file. There will be two materials 1) the
smooth muscles that surround the blood vessel and 2) the soft tissue that
surrounds the blood vessel. I need to know how to let the uservp.f file
know that it should only specify the strain for the smooth muscle elements
and use passive material properties (ignore uservp.f) for the soft tissue.

A second question concerns activating the USERVP routine. The USRCAL
command does not apply to the USERVP routine so how do I activate the
routine? (I have successfully compiled, relinked and configured the
software to use the new Ansys.exe.)

Thank you for any help,
