Try MODMSH,DETACH, followed by ARCHIVE,WRITE (to a .cdb file). Then make the
run happen in a batch process.

Hi Group

I am working on a fairly large model (around 150000 elements) &
consists of contact elements at several interfaces. Since I am
interested in a local mechanism I thought of substructuring the
largest part. After I generated the .sub file & incorporated in the
use pass when I tried to solve, the solver gives error saying:

This model requires more scratch space than currently available(5MB).
Close other applications or increase the memory allocation.

I am using Ansys 7.0 on a Windows 2000 server with 2.24 GHz 3GB RAM
configuration. I even tried increasing the memory allocation instead
of the default option.
Has anybody encountered such a problem??

Warm Regards
