Subject: STRUCT: substructuring rules
Author: Sharma Shashikant

Hello Group,

I'm attempting substructuring in a large model, to resolve steep stress
gradients. Are there some rules (experience) on how much should you refine
the mesh from first pass to second pass? My doubt is since the displacements
would have crudely converged in the first pass due to coarse mesh, this
error will accumulate in the subsequent (even refined mesh) runs. So how do
I decide how much to refine in a substructured model?

thanks,
