WindowsNT for Alpha is a 32bit OS on a 64bit system and has never been too popular. The Alpha is still the current reference platform for the 64bit port of Windows2000 due next year (maybe). Compaq has decided that they will reposition the Alpha as it high-end server platform with True64 UNIX and as a low end unix workstation with Linux which also has a clean 64bit port.
