Bob,

Sounds like you are between the proverbial rock
and a hard place.

Just curious... I can run ANSYS 5.5.2 in batch
mode with a -m of at least 850 MB no problem on
my PC with NT 4.0 SP 3 (single processor machine).
Do you see this artificial -m limit of ~700 MB
when you specify one or two processors? Or, does
ANSYS not even get to the point of reading your
config55.ans file or your /CONFIG command (however
it is that you are specify the number of processors
for ANSYS to use)? Have you tried starting the
batch job from a MS-DOS command prompt and from
the batch launcher window (Start > Programs >
ANSYS 5.5 > Batch)?

Maybe this problem has something to do with the
fact that you have SP 4 or SP 5 for NT 4.0?????

Regards,
Chris

Chris,

Thanks for your reply.

I have a PC with 2 GB RAM. Unfortunately, when I run in BATCH mode, I can't
specify more than ~700 MB on the -m command. On invocation of the BATCH
run, ANSYS immediately halts saying that there's not enough memory available
if I specify >~700 MB. I can get to 1440 MB for -m if I run interactively.
George Karnos at ANSYS is looking into this but no solution has been found
so far. I observe this behavior with both 5.5.2 and 5.5.3 on my PCs running
NT 4.0 with SP4 or SP5.
