At the outset, I want to share my observations as
under.

The thickness of the stainless steel layer which is
meant for corrosion allowance is generally not
included in structural analysis.

PLANE55 (with ax-symmetric option) can be
effectively used for thermal analysis for pressure
vessels. Also PLANE-25 is effective for pressure
vessels for structural analysis wherein we can also
consider the non-axisymmetric loads such as nozzle
loads etc.

Ofcourse, the above is valid when you are considering
analysis of non-layered shell.
