Subject: Re: 8 Gb .tri limit?
Author: Michael Hiller
Date: 1999-07-12 06:41:00Did you specify FSPLIT for 7 Gb .tri, or was that the default chosen by
ANSYS ? Maybe specify it smaller.....
Even though you have 47 Gb (free?) , surely they are not all on one
drive.... is it possible that one of your drives or partitions is still
filling up ????
Have you tried one of the iterative solvers (using the EQSLV command) for
your type of analysis (Harmonic Full).... then you avoid the formation of
the .tri file completely, and your problems (may) disappear.........
good luck.... hope this helps,

Thanks Martin, but I've tried with file sppliting and the problem persists.
Now I get two .tri files, one only .tri (7Gb) and one .tri01 (1 Gb), and
now I got
an error message from Ansys. It says "possible disk full" (I still have 47
GB).
Then, Ansys stops. No result file avalaible.
I don´t know, what kind of problem it is, but seems like Ansys could
(in my case) not handle up to 8 Gb in an harmonic full problem, when the
.tri
(or .tri + .tri01) reaches up to 8 Gb. Does anybody knows any idea about
that ?

I think this is an operating system limit rather than an ANSYS limit. I
don't think things will change until there is a 64 bit version of
Windows 2000 which is still probably a couple of years away. Have you
investigated the file splitting commands described in Chapter 6 of the
ANSYS Operations Guide? They should work around the limit for the
file.tri.
