Patrick,

This may sound silly, but have you tried to deselect all the check boxes
under the alternate options, that is "make solid..", "delete small
areas..", "merge keypoints..." when you do the import?

I think it's worth trying this, and make the solids after the import... If
it works...

Just a thought...

Hi XANSYS,

I run Rev 5.6.1 on an Alpha under NT 4.0.

I wrote an IGES file in SolidWorks, then issued from a macro:

IOPTN, IGES, ALTERNATE
IGESIN, quarter_housing, IGES

All ANSYS windows disappeared. All ANSYS processes stopped. No error
messages appeared. Issuing the commands from the GUI produced the same
silent crash.

I commented out the first line and reran the macro:

! IOPTN, IGES, ALTERNATE
IGESIN, quarter_housing, IGES

The import worked.

I would very much like to import under the alternate option, so I can
easily
build and modify geometry. Has anyone any suggestions?

Patrick
