Diego,

on the cadfix homnepage CADDS5 is included as possible IGES source:

I quote from the homepage:

"A range of import translators is available to import and export a variety
of CAD model systems and formats icluding: ACIS, Parasolid, IGES (flavored
& standard), STEP, STL, VDAFS, CATIA, CADDS5, and ANSYS (report only). "

So if you cant import, then I only see one or a combination of the following
reasons:

o you have a older Cadfix version which does not support CADDS5
o you do not have the feature for CADDS5 import licensed in your
installation
o maybe the file is in DOS format and you try it to read in UNIX format or
vice versa,
happens VERY often, due to one ftp action, a saving on a PC, .... have you
checked your
file with e.g vi-editor on UNIX or wordpad on a PC before importing to
Cadfix?
o the file is really catastrophic, have a talk with the designer

and some questions:

What error warnings does Cadfix give you, when you try to import the file?
How big is the file?
How many parts does it content?

What Eric suggests, is the long and winding road, but is good
for training the character, every FEAnalyst should have walk this way
once.

If you will have to do this type of import more often,
I would suggest the following:

Assume how many hours you will need per year until you have your iges
files imported. Multiply this with your costs for the company per hour.

Show this value your boss. If you are still alive afterwards, ask him, if
you are allowed to
buy CadFix from FEGS Ltd.

This is a software, which will read your IGES files, no matter from where
and how 'bad'
they are. In Cadfix you perform the repair (mostly automatized). You always
have control
over geometric entitities which will cause import problems in IGES. So you
always know,
if the import will work in the current stage or not. Last stage is, that
Cadfix writes out
an ASCII file, which you can import to ANSYS with File/ReadInput from.
