I would be curious to hear what the wall clock times are as well.
I have done some performance testing between Sun Ultra-1, Intel, and SGI
Power Challenge. All results seem to be as expected, although
the dual 300 MHz PC outperformed them all. One interesting thing
to note that I discovered during the trials is that my models would solve nearly
TWICE as fast when run from the /tmp directory in Solaris than when
run in a regularly automounted directory. Apparently this is due
to how Solaris uses the /tmp directory (as virtual memory.) I do not
think this is possible in IRIX since IRIX makes it own /swap directory on
the fly.

Has anyone else noticed this? Can it also be done in IRIX somehow?
