Moldflow actually does this via their "mes" command. They take
imported elements, make them into surfaces, booleian coplaner
and ajacent surfaces together, and remesh to their own liking.
Maybe you could write a macro that would take a surface, find
an adjacent surface, and if the normals are parallel, then
booleian them together, then grab the next surface, etc.
