Danny, the answer to your problem may be in iSight by Engineous Software
http://www.engineous.com/solutions.html that does the "handshaking" between
applications you're looking for. Not an cheap solution but they have
several success stories. The good news is that their optimization arsenal
includes both deterministic as well as heuristic algorithms (individually or
in hybrid schemes) that can tackle any problem.
