I think that I can overcopme the "fiddle factor" with optimization
if I see that the payoff is there.

But my main difficulty is that CAD (Unigraphics) models that are
already parameterized cannot be transferred with parameters intact
into ANSYS. Our product geometry is highly sculptured, and I would
not even attempt to re-build it in ANSYS and try to set it up for APDL
or optimization processes. I know that something like this might be
done with external software that links the CAD models to ANSYS, but
haven't had enough demand for such work to take this approach.
