Try this. Run the analysis with the low stiffness to get convergence, then
increase the stiffness by increasing KN on the R card with RMODIF. Then
perform a restart. Also, on the R card explicitly declare KT. If you leave it
blank, Ansys will take KT=KN/100. If you change KN, it will try and change KT,
which is illegal. Even if you do not use friction, declare a valuefor KT.

Dear Gurus,
I am trying to simulate snap-fit of 2 parts. The contact part
stiffness is about 13 times lesser than that of target. I am
using plane 42 and contact 48. I could not get
convergence if I increase stiffness and over-penetration, if I
reduce the KN value.
I am apllying displacement to the part by keeping other part surface
constrained.
What could be the problem?
Thanks and reagrds
Vijay
