No rating yet Subject: Contact173 Penetration Plot Has No Neg Values Author: Steve Ferguson Date: 1999-01-13 16:38:00The ANSYS 5.5 manual says, that for Contact 173 element, penetration will be plotted as a positive number and gaps will be plotted as negative numbers. However, in several models I and others have done ,where gaps are known to exist, a penetration plot shows no negative numbers.
Is this just an error in the ANSYS manual, or is it a feature that was intended to be placed in ANSYS, but was not?
