[Pricing starts at $3.3K, $6K or so will get you a decent dual-processor machine with a 17" monitor] It is supposed to have really hot graphics (Fahrenheit implemented in hardware). I understand ANSYS has some "partnership" with SGI and might have tested their software on the new workstations. Would the folks at ANSYS Inc. care to comment?
Then you have the new Dell 610 workstations, which are shipping with the 3Dlabs Oxygen GMX 2000 cards. These beasts have 96MB of memory on them (just on the graphics card).
Finally, the SGI machines are currently shipping with the Pentium II processor while on the Dell you can get Pentium II Xeon's. Again, any experiences that people might have of comparing the Xeon processor with its "slower-cache" cousin would be appreciated.

Rick,
One of our engineers has an NT machine with 1GB Ram, Dual hard drives with a RAID controller, dual Pentium 450 MHz. The video card which works great is an Intergraph Intense 3D Pro 3400 with 16 MB Video RAM and 16 MB Texture RAM.
