In my company we always build input files (ASCII files containing all ANSYS commands needed to build the model, run the analyses, and postprocess the results). That is beneficial for a number of reasons.
One of the reasons is that we only need to save these input files when the project is done. All the big database and results files are deleted. If the run ANSYS times are reasonable, it is easy to reproduce the model and the results should that be necessary (and it often is!). These input files are very small, and will often work over a number of ANSYS revisions, while database and results files are big, and may not work with later ANSYS revisions.
If run times to produce the results are long, that is a different matter. If the files fit on a CD, that could be an alternative.
Any other suggestions?
