Author: Bryan Baskin Date: 2000-10-18 14:33:00Just try and find comparisions or evaluations on full OpenGL applications since that's what ANSYS is. Many game cards are optimized for M$'s DirectX and Direct3D standards and have just enough OpenGL working to get QUAKE and a few other games to work well.
On games, nVidia's offerings have tended to top the performance charts for more than a year now. If the OpenGL support is good, I imagine it'll be a fine card for ANSYS work.
Many of these cards are very impressive, though. It'll be harder and harder to sell a graphics card for $4000 ;-)

The newest "game" video cards look promising and are "cheap" by CAE standards....
According to the ANSYS web site, nvidia GeForce2 DDR chipset was certified on a DELL..... but has anyone tested/run ANSYS (and or ProE) with ATI's new Radeon 32 DDR
Was thinking about getting one and running it on NT4.0 for about a month... and then moving it to Win2000 Prof.
looking forward to hearing anyone's experiences....
