It still works in 5.5. However, 5.5 change the start.ans file to start55.ans.
So right now you probably using the default start55.ans file, which doesn't do
anything.

I also found how to remove the TUTORIAL and WHATSNEW buttons from the Toolbar
on 5.5, add the following 2 lines to your START55.ANS:

*ABBR,TUTORIAL ! turns off tutorial
*ABBR,WHATSNEW ! turns off What's New
