Subject: Goofy EMID in 5.5

Has anybody else had trouble using EMID in ANSYS 5.5? I have a 5.3
model with tet elements which don't have midside nodes on their exterior
faces. I decided to transition to 5.5 and join the rest of the hip and
cool users who are enjoying the virtues of the latest and greatest
version of ANSYS. My goal was to refine the tet mesh in one area. I
did this using EMID (to generate the missing midside nodes needed by
EREF), and then tried to refine the mesh with EREF, but EREF couldn't do
it because all of the midside nodes weren't there. When I looked at the
nodes that EREF was complaining about I could see that the midside nodes
were missing, even though EMID was supposed to have created them.

I spent the better part of two days fooling around with this, writing
macros to detect missing nodes and fixing the elements, etc. and finally
decided that I'd be better off living in the past and returned to 5.4 to
accomplish my goals. I read the .db file into 5.4 (the .db file was
originally from 5.3 and could be read by either 5.4 or 5.5) and
accomplished the desired midside node generation and mesh refinement in
about 10 minutes using EMID and EREF.

I thought I'd pass this along and see if anyone has had similar
troubles, and to possibly save someone else from suffering through a
similar experience. After all, it's never good for one's career to take
2 days to do something that should take 10 minutes.
