Subject: node selection in post1

this one has been bothering me for some time:
in post1 one reads in an rst file (NO .db ), and tries to select
elements using GUI one gets an error : no elements definedi(??).BUT you
can use command line to select elements as well as list them. For
NODEs there is no problem (both GUI and command line works).
Is there a workaround (using GUI) for this??
