are you sure the areas are gone ???

type ALIST and see if any areas are defined.....

if so,
you may need to type in /FACET
in order to turn area faceting (filling) back "ON".......
(older versions of ANSYS turn off faceting prior to IGES IN in case there are tessellation errors etc....)
This would be your best way for getting back your areas.... If the areas exist and enclose a leak-free volume, you can use the VA,ALL command to create a volume that could be meshed......

If your areas are really gone, email the XANSYS list again and let us know if you at least have "lines" connecting your keypoints....... do a LLIST or LPLOT , or you can email me directly if you want to enlist the assistance of a consultant/trainer in order to make rapid progress with ANSYS technology........ I have worked with researchers in the past to convert CATSCAN cloud data into models.......
Good luck and regards,

I have digitized vertebral bodies of the spine in Rhino and used many patches to obtain the surface rendering. These turn out to be trimmed surfaces. When performing an iges transfer to Ansys I loose the surface, but I suppose this is understandable. However, the digitized points are reproduced in Ansys as keypoints. I am new to Ansys, can the keypoints be meshed and a volume be generated.
